On 30th May 2013, S Wu from UK visited MetroIVF seeking advice to have a baby of her own using her own eggs. She was 46 years and her fertility doctor in London Lister hospital decline to treat her conventional IVF because of her age. She came to Malaysia and seek consultation at numerous fertility center and finally choose to have her fertility treatment at MetroIVF. Her uterus and hormone were normal. She was advised that successful IVF pregnancy is unlikely because globally no woman had successful IVF using her own age at 46 years. (However, four months later in September 2013 in Orlando USA, the first 46 years old IVF mother delivered a baby boy)
On 6th December 2013, S Wu came back to MetroIVF and insists on having IVF treatment under Dr Tee Swi Peng and confidently accept the extremely low chance of success. She was started on short protocol in the same month and she had four eggs collected and two were matured to be used for fertilization with ICSI. Only one of the eggs fertilized and only one embryo with 4 cells was transferred. S Wu was a very determine and had planned her next one month well including where to source her medication and consultation. She left us 4 days after embryo transfer.
14 days passed, and there was no news from her. We waited. 17 days passed, an email arrived. S Wu’s blood bHCG has rose from 271 to 2397Iu/l. MetroIVF team were so delighted to hear the good news and it was the talk for the whole week. S Wu soon become the oldest IVF mother using her own egg in Malaysia and also globally. S Wu never fails to regularly update MetroIVF on her pregnancy progress. She took a year leave from her profession so as to care for her pregnancy because she knew it will not come by again. She delivered a healthy baby girl on 9th September 2014 at the age of 47. S Wu is a tough and bold lady indeed! She make history in Malaysia and globally
